I want to buy new games, but I’m running out of money. Not cool, will most likely reward myself with a game at the end of semester. That choice is harder than wanting to keep up with video games. xD

Being Responsible.

I know the PSN is having this massive sale and there’s deals going on everyday. BUT, I stopped myself from making a purchase and I think this will be key to just retaining money instead of randomly burning it.

Darksiders 2 first thoughts.

I know I’m slow with this, but I finally have it and I actually have time to play it. So my first thoughts on Darksiders 2.

Throwing in online is weird. Darksiders seriously feels like a fully singleplayer game and any sort of MP is a weird concept, I haven’t tried it out. But if it has the other horsemen in some kind of instance or raid, that works. Could be a tacked on feature, but it works I suppose.

Fighting with Death is much more different to War. I like this one heaps. I just have to keep slamming the dodge/acrobatics button and I’m already halfway across the map. xD

The loot/item system is slow, If there wasn’t such a delay between the menu opening and closing, it’d be good. The system is a nice refresher from God Of War or Infamous and it is nice. Just as long as I don’t have to overbalance my items I’ll be fine.

THERE’S A BLOODY SKILL TREE NOW. THIS IS THE COOLEST THING EVER. Actually, I have no idea. But it is cool. I’m trying to go for more passive attack bonuses than summons. Because generally active techs are better than summon techs.

The Makers are all Irish/Scottish (Apologies, I can’t tell what’s what.)

Also final point, Death is kind of sassy. Not super sassy, just a bit of a smartass kind of sassy. xD

Borrowed Yakuza 4 off a mate. Fighting isn’t much to write home about and it plays kind of like a super linear GTA/River City Ransom. I am enjoying the story though, can’t complain about that just yet.

Voice acting’s superb.

When game companies make playthroughs and you get all frustrated by the player who’s trying to show you story/mechanics. But you’re all. HOLY CRAP GET OUT OF THEIR FIRE.

Things you should do.

1. Buy Castle Crashers on Steam. (It’s only 9 bucks. C’mon now.)

2. Add me on Steam.

3. Send me a message and we shall have some rad fun times.

Awwww yeahhh. Do mention that you’re from tumblr. I just want peeps to play with.

You can’t ignore them.

I don’t think in this day and age you can ignore the impact of video games. I’ve been playing them for as long as I can remember and I’ve always leaned towards strategy and rpg type games. I’ve even dabbled in Starcraft 2 (Terribly) but when you start a discussion and someone immediately shoots down your thoughts on video games, I think to myself - “You can’t seriously ignore the impact of this.”

There are conferences that attract thousands of people to see new technology, new video games, new game engines. There is a large industry which is ridiculously hard to get into and if their game flops, then they lose everything. eSports is a very lucrative, highly competitive area where successful players can literally earn a living playing video games. Video games extend not only to the stereotype of nerdy youth, but can be mature and often times can be described as pure artistry. (See: Journey, Okami.)

I don’t understand how people can actively ignore or deny the existence of such a large arc of pop culture. I’m not expecting people to play heavily and devote hours at a time to games, but a little open-mindedness would be nice. With the recent release of Halo 4 there were tie ins, kids don’t want toys, they want video games. But when you get older and you finally get to see and evaluate what you want to experience, that’s the true beauty of it all.

Perhaps it was just the one girl in my class who doesn’t know left from right. But I feel that being a little bit aware of the current shift into video games occupying people’s time, impacting society and being a part of pop culture. It’s about as natural a progression as sitting in front of the radio or watching TV for hours on end. To ignore them is to ignore the present and the society we live in.

XCOM.

So. I’m growing fondly attached to my little team, I’d be so heartbroken to lose them. But since getting the new German heavy who’s now well suited for fighting sectopods, life is good. I’ve changed my setup from less medkit to more medkit. One of my lovely support girls has finally hit Corporal rank and she can heal 10 HP a pop. So useful.

But yeah, equipment is solid, crew is solid. It’s almost time to run the base assault. I may want to swap the sniper out for that level and build a spare Titan Armor suit. But, with the sniper I have that extra critical hit rate that I need to hit sectopods and muton elites hard.

Also, I’m a massive Wipeout Fanboy but oh my gosh… This is just so good… MUST RESIST.
